The Annularis Angelfish or Blue Ring Angelfish (Pomacanthus Annularis) is an angelfish found in the Indo-West Pacific oceans from East Africa, throughout Indonesia and New Guinea to New Caledonia, north to southern Japan. It is highly sought after and a prized member of any aquarium. Annularis Angelfish or Blue Ring Angelfish can reach up to 12? inches. The young of the blue ring angelfish are at first a dark blue, almost black, with broad turquoise and white vertical stripes. Adults will exhibit a violet coloring with semicircular marks on the middle of the body. In the aquarium Annularis Angelfish or Blue Ring Angelfish are algae grazers but consume fish and coral flesh as well. A 220 gallon tank is necessary for a single Annularis. Provide plenty of hiding places such as caves and live rock for grazing. Annularis Angelfish or Blue Ring Angelfish do not make good reef dwellers. Considered semi-aggressive, the Annularis may become territorial once acclimated to the tank. The diet of the Annularis Angelfish or Blue Ring Angelfish should include vegetables, meats, and angelfish food preparations containing spongiform products.
